Scientific Calculator
A full scientific calculator with trigonometric functions, logarithms, square roots, powers and the constants π and e — all running locally in your browser.
Please enter valid values.
How to use
- Click number buttons and operators to build your expression.
- Use function buttons (sin, cos, log, √) to add mathematical functions — close parentheses after each.
- Press = to evaluate the expression, or C to clear and start over.
Frequently asked questions
Are trig functions in degrees or radians?
The calculator uses radians, which is the standard for JavaScript's Math functions. To convert degrees to radians, multiply by π/180. For example, sin(90°) = sin(π/2) ≈ 1.
What does the ± button do?
The ± button negates the current number — it multiplies it by −1. Use it to enter negative values quickly without typing a minus sign.
Why does my result show many decimal places?
Floating-point arithmetic can produce tiny rounding errors (e.g. 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.30000000000000004). The calculator rounds results to 10 significant digits to hide most of these artifacts.
Can I chain calculations?
Yes — after pressing =, the result becomes the starting value for the next expression. You can continue building on it immediately.
What is the difference between log and ln?
log computes the base-10 logarithm (common log), while ln computes the natural logarithm (base e ≈ 2.718). Use log for decibels and pH; use ln for growth rates and calculus.
