Frequently asked questions
How often do the exchange rates update?
The rates table refreshes once a day. Exchange markets close on weekends, so Friday’s rates stay in effect until markets reopen on Sunday evening.
Does the converter work offline?
If the latest rates cannot be fetched, the converter automatically falls back to the most recent rates it saved in your browser and clearly marks the result with their date. Without saved rates and without a connection, it cannot convert.
Are these the same rates my bank gives me?
No. The converter shows mid-market rates — the midpoint between buy and sell prices on global currency markets. Banks and exchange services add their own margin on top, so the rate you are actually offered is usually slightly worse.
Is my data sent anywhere?
The only network request is an anonymous call to a public exchange-rates API to download the rates table. The amounts you type are converted on your device and are never uploaded or stored.
