Frequently asked questions

What is Morse code?

Morse code is a method of encoding text as sequences of dots (·) and dashes (−). It was invented by Samuel Morse in the 1830s for telegraph communication and is still used in amateur radio and emergency signaling.

How are words separated in Morse code?

Letters within a word are separated by a single space. Words are separated by a forward slash (/) with spaces on each side. For example: "HI THERE" becomes ".... .. / - .... . .-. ."

Does it support numbers and punctuation?

Yes — the converter supports all 26 letters, digits 0–9 and common punctuation marks including period, comma, question mark and exclamation mark.

What does ? mean in the output?

A ? in the output means the character has no Morse code equivalent (when encoding) or the Morse sequence is not recognized (when decoding). Check for typos in your input.
